Aluminum rockwell carrier
|
Hello ,
I am planning on building component chassis for a 510 cui prostock , and was planning on using a aluminum rockwell sqhd carrier. Are these used more often in the stated , and what things do I need to pay attention ? Your help will be appreciated |

The price on used ones keep going up as they get harder to find.
You can pay as much as $1500 for used one not needing repair Need to look them over good for cracks, alot of them have already been welded up.. Not a huge amount $ more for a new billet one If weight isn't a problem the iron dropouts last real well and are cheap. |

A better option is the Merritor 20145
Aluminum drop outs are way cheaper. Gear sets are easier to source. But not as many China aftermarket gear sets available yet. The ring and pinion is a touch heavier than the SQHD If you are going to use the truck housing, the 17145 housing is lighter than the 20145, and the aluminum drop out fits the lighter housing. |

I have a Rockwell aluminum dropout complete gears ( I think 3.73) and is still in a truck housing thats been cut on ends |
