Profarm turbo question June 30, 2016 10:00AM
Hi guy,
I have a garrett gtx4202r and I want to know what is the best a/r for intake housing and for exhaust housing.
I have a Dt466. 13mm ppump. Timing 36 D BTDC Injectors 5 hole .025 dual feed. Hyper 00 cam. Head air flow 225cfm. Heavy hyper valve springs. 40 oz of water per pass (10sec) . Open rpm

Problem, goes under charger fairly quickly

pick a good shop close to home.
harts, hyper, etc. and get a good one.

101 garret or 98 precision . 101 is a little tighter than 98

Re: Profarm turbo question June 30, 2016 02:01PM
Is the precision housing fit on a gtx42?

Re: Profarm turbo question June 30, 2016 02:05PM
We were taking the 101 housing off the gt 42 and putting it on the precision years ago . It worked for us !

I am currently running with the 128 a/r so I will try a tighter one and for the precision one! Thanks red for the reply!

101

Try the gt 42. Exhaust housing AR 115. That is what we use , you are good to 3200 RPMs below that you have unti 3000 before you will start to go under

101

Re: Profarm turbo question July 06, 2016 10:46AM
As said before., we run the gt42 with a 115 . If your at 128 try going down one to 115. We also run a slotted cover .. Just FYI .
If your engine runs good and your close.,. Or you think it's making decent power., from experience , don't make big changes. Even though your turbo goes under .
Changing exhaust housings can also hurt your engines RPMs . Anyone who has changed them can agree. Obviously a Dyno.,is the tell all...
But tractor pulling wouldn't be any fun if you had a robot setting up your engine.( Meaning Dyno )
Watch the videos from the badger state program 466 class . 95% go under the turbo ,,

You should not not be having trouble with the gt42. You can run the 1.01 exhaust housing but something doesnt sound right to me. Many 3000rpm tractors are creating excessive back pressure when getting that tight of a exhaust cover. What is your back pressure gauge showing? Also your boost gauge? They have to be in pretty close relation to each other to make things function properly. The GTX42 will accept precision and standard GT42 Garrett housings.

Re: Profarm turbo question July 05, 2016 02:47PM
I don't have a back pressure gauge but Maybe I can get one et my boost is at 50. For 50 psi, how my back pressure is suppose to be?

I'm surprised nobody has questioned the gtx 11 blade wheel. Last I heard 2-3 years ago they weren't for $hit. Maybe stick with a proven Hart, Precision, or FVP 6 blade with a 101/98/115 housing.

Couple other things, timing may be a little high, injectors may be a bit big, cam isn't known to lug well and your head has unknown work, just observations from my arm chair with 3000 rpm.
