Just kicking around building a tractor to compete against a 501 IH and was wanting an idea of what kind of hp and torque people are getting out of those. I don't want to invest much money in something that isn't going to be in the ballpark.

Round here they are using dt466, puting big bore in it and the Rd motor can't compete. Plus you its cheaper everybody is converting the main bearings to cummins cause you can find them.

Ok so does anybody know what kind of numbers they put out? Would 300 hp be enough to be competitive?

I know of one guy we pull with is getting 300 out of a dt466 black. He made a shaft to hook it to dyno. No problem clutches to slip. That's with the 4000 rpm spring in the pump. And the rds tend to beat him half the time or so
