checking cam timing on a dt436,,,
|
Hello, I am working on a DT436 that is in a 1066, The engine runs but has no power and makes a lot of black smoke with no load on it. It runs like its not getting enough air. Checked the basics but not finding much wrong. So is there a way to check the cam timing without pulling the front cover off the engine? The engine was bought used and has had this problem since installed in the tractor. |

Have you done a compression check? If timing is that far off I would think it it would show up there.
Are you just wanting to check the timing marks or use a degree wheel? |

Grab an I T Manual and in it you will find how to check cam timing with a feeler gauge it is pretty simple to do. |
