Looking to get started

I'm looking to get started from a stock 1466 and build up from there. It has a TA and about 3500 hours. What would be the first step to really look at first. It would be a project that would be built over time |

How much money do you have to spend on it? |

for this year, i wanna spend around 5 to 10 grand on it. I dont wanna be cheap but i wanna be competative |

Decide where you want to end up and start looking for a built one in that class. You will end up changing your Pump,Turbo Gears or even Tranmission every year til you get to your final goal with little to no return on your investment on parts that you throw away. You cant build a good running Hot Farm,Pro Farm, Limited Pro or Light Limited Pro for what you can buy one for in the classified section. Transmission 7-10000 Crower Clutch 5000,Pump 5-10000,Motor 20-35000,Pullers 10-13000. These prices are not exact before somebody throws a fit but in the ballpark. Hope this helps you out getting started and saves you money. |

The first step to look at is what class do you want to pull in?
5 or 10 grand probably won't win farm class because you will need clutch ta pump lines injectors and turbo if you don't have much for weights you could spend a grand there |

I have plenty of weights, I farm am a manager at an equipment dealership so obtaining parts would not be the issue. I used to have a 966 puller with a 466 in it. Just couldnt get it to perform like I wanted. Then kids came. |

Wade please tell me how 5 or 10 grand will get you a high lift m100pump a turbo lines injectors clutch and ta I think that you are forgetting that in the south west part of Wisconsin you need 500 hp to compete in farm stock. The only difference between a farm stock tractor and the code red is you run a smaller charger then most in the 10 mph class besides you don't really want to help the man you just want to sell him your used parts |

Another guy hiding behind a keyboard. So what if he wants to sell some used parts, what do you think all our stuff is built out of? Spend it where it's important, buy used to fill in the gaps. |

I just built my 966 in last 2 years and I agree figure out where u want to be at the end and try to build it as close as u can for the end product. I'd hate to figure up how much I wasted on parts that don't do me any good now. I can give u ruff idea on what will work together. |

I would have second thoughts about stripping down and rebuilding a 3500 houred 1466 for pulling that tractor is just broke in !! there are plenty of junkers to start with parked needn work or go to pulloff page and buy one from someone that's moved on` thks |

Bc35 I see your profile has no information in it so are you hiding behind the keyboard wade your math comes to $9950 what about tires what about labor what about new head bolts what about some weight brackets and the biggest question what about if he only is to spend 5 instead of 10 and another question other than the truck pistons and ta what will work if he moves up a class or 2 |

I'm not going to argue with you on pulloff.com because it's a great site and I don't want to waste the space
You have my number, give me and call and we can discuss your issues. |

I agree, sell your 1466 and buy something else that already has a head start. Don't be in a hurry, buy good used. But know where you want to end up, you start whooping them too bad and you will be out of places to pull before too long. Then you will be forced into next step. |
