Wheel Speed January 29, 2017 03:02AM
I need some help figuring wheel speed. Is the correct way to calculate wheel speed to take engine RPMs and divided by gear speed divided by rear end ratio time circumference of tire. Thanks in advance. I am coming up with over 100 mile per hour at 4000 RPMs and wonder if I did something wrong. thanks in advance.

You're on your way. Engine speed divided by final ratio. This will give you the rpm of the tire. Multiply this by the circumference of the tire in feet. Then divide this by 5280 (miles per minute) and multiply by 60 (miles per hour).

"Then divide this by 5280 (miles per minute)" = Don't you mean 5250 (FEET per minute)?

Actually he was right after you divide it by 5280 your answer is miles per minute.
