How many different backing plates on the 359 will work for this application?
I know for a fact the backing plate off a late 4050 will work but what about a 4030? I've heard some people say yes and some people say no. If anyone has one of these plates available I would defiantly be interested. Thanks |

The late 4050 engine plate part # R83132 [ NLA from John Deere ] will fit 4010. It is the only plate that John Deere shows in parts that will work. The 4030 engine plate will fit 3020, but not 4010. You could have a custom engine plate made. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/31/2017 02:00AM by PULLMX. |

R51794 is the same plate, I hate to be argumentative but if it fits a 3020 it will fit the 4010/20. I have personally put a 4010 motor in a 3020 and it did not need an adapter just longer rails and a longer hood. Looked into putting a 2640 motor but found a good buy in the 4010 motor. The adapter would work for that as well just decided to go the other way. If you really want the 300 series get the adapter and go to work. |
