14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 08, 2017 05:38AM
We offer pulling tires for many tractor pulling classes and we are looking to expand more into the antique tractor pulling classes. We already offer an 18.4R38 chevron tread tire that will soon be available to the market! Other sizes available are the 20.8R38, 24.5x32, 30.5x32, and are working on more to come.

We are looking into having a 14.9x38 R1 tire, with a 23 degree tread, and a harder compound of rubber for pulling. Our aim is to offer a more tailored product to the pulling world than the ag tires used currently, at a lower cost to you. I have attached a photo of the tire, and would love some feedback!

It is getting harder to find good used tires, and more expensive to find new tires in today's market. Would this be of interest to pullers? Have any questions or suggestions?

Just copy and old Firestone Field and Road.

No one wants a ton of thread depth, new is NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good.

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 08, 2017 01:30PM
Coming from an antique tractor puller and tire cutter. Get rid of the curved bar. Straight 23 degree bar like a Firestone. Curved bar no good. Hard rubber compound for bar only. Keep tire flexible. Six ply max! Any of the new tires I have seen cut by different tire cutters I would not bring home over an good original aged tire. If You get the tire right there is and will be a big market for them. Get it wrong there just parade tires that most people won't want to pay anything for. WTW

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 08, 2017 04:20PM
How about this;

1. a 14.9X38 Farm Tire

2. Straight 23 degree angle lug,

3. 4 or 6ply

4. super hard rubber (80-85 durometer)

5. 3/4" tread depth (approximately 1/2 tread of new)

6. At a price $100 per tire less than a new Firestone Traction Field and Road?

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 09, 2017 05:08AM
14.9 x 38 made like the Firestone F-151 design 6 ply at 3/4 inch bar height would be ideal with HARD rubber compound.

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 25, 2017 02:10AM
My personal thought would be to pattern after an old BFG PowerGrip tread pattern like the one pictured with maybe a 1/4" more tread. Personally, I believe they are the best pulling tire with Firestone Traction Field &Roads with a close second

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 09, 2017 02:26AM
Hopefully you will get around to a non-redial version of the 18.4 x 38 with the standard Firestone 23 degree tread pattern and 3/4" lug. BTW - how tall will the lugs be on the V-cut (= chevron?) pattern?

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 09, 2017 03:40AM
A.P.

As of now we are only producing radials in the v-cut 18.4-38 tire. We can't promise anything, but depending on demand, we may look at the possibility of a bias ply 18.4 v-cut down the road. The tread height will be 5/8" with underlay rubber enough to get a number of cuts out of them and also give you the ability to raise the bar height from the original height.

Not looking for any promises, just giving my input ($0.02 worth). I may be wrong, but I suspect it takes less time (and generally time = $) to cut the tops of the lugs down if they are too tall, rather than trying to remove material from the face of the carcass. In any case looking forward to seeing what becomes available in the end.

Thank you for devoting the time and effort you've put into these offerings.

Have it measure 14.9" wide also... How many farm tires are not as wide as they are supposed to be. We have some 15.5's that are 14" wide!

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 12, 2017 12:39PM
no tire unless specifically made is as wide as the numbers,-- BAR DONE !!!!!!!

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 14, 2017 04:35AM
We are checking with the Antique Pulling organizations to see if the tire would be allowed if we built it.

Our goal is to lower the cost to the puller if they are forced to buy new, and give a constant supply of tires instead of having to search for something that is getting harder to find by the day.

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 18, 2017 05:13AM
measure a new deep tread

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 18, 2017 12:11PM
One thing that I am pretty sure of,--- is that many if not most antique pullers will not spend money on new tires not proven to work well.Only a small percentage of pullers have money to burn. LOL

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 19, 2017 03:06AM
When they come out and are ahead of the pack then the rest will have a decision to make, spend the money and pull to win or don't spend it and be class filler. Don't be upset because we have another option.

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 19, 2017 03:47AM
IMO, you'll sell way more 18.4X38 bias tires versus 14.9X38's. Few places these days stipulate you have to run just a 14.9 or 15.5...

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 19, 2017 03:06AM
Bias ply? Most antique rules ban radials

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 19, 2017 03:18AM
BP4455,

Yes, these tires will be in a bias ply. We are continuing to look into this tire, in addition to the other sizes of pulling tires we offer.

Thanks for the interest!

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 19, 2017 05:09PM
I would spend my money on a used pair of f151 0ver new pullers they look like a cross between 45* and 32* to much center lug and no bite just spin and dig up track will b waiten to see just my thought

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 19, 2017 11:03PM
Stone Puller f151,

Thanks for the comments. We are taking every comment to heart.

We posted a picture of a 14.9X38 farm tire that is currently being built, just for reference and comments.

We are designing the new 14.9X38 pulling tire from scratch, so all of the comments we are getting are very helpful, and will play into the new design.

Our whole purpose for building this tire is simple, and here are our thoughts;

1. Used 14.9X38's are getting harder to find by the day, which makes it tough for everyone to have a tire that is readily available, and at a descent price.

2. If a suitable used tire can't be found, a new tire is the only other option. Firestone Traction Field and Road is the new tire of choice, but they are expensive.

3. With the feedback help of you, the pullers and cutters, we are developing a tire that is not only the perfect farm tire, it just happens to be the perfect pulling tire as well, and at a cost several hundred dollars less than Firestone.

4.We already have the basic mold, so all we need to do is add the features of the tire, which thanks to your feedback, we will have compiled by the middle of next week.

This is not just a pipe dream. This tire will be available by mid season this year.

Thank You again for all the feedback that has been offered on this project, and we would love to hear more.

Our company is so committed to the sport of pulling, that we "eat, sleep and breath" products for you that are not only innovative, but give you a choice that you may not have had in the past, and at a cost far less than other new options.

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 20, 2017 01:37AM
Mr Oh Well,u r most likely a no it allll, options are very useful and helpful, however many sets of tires have gone thru my shop, trailer,on an off the rims hubs and and sitting waiting for a chance to prove themselves,-- only one pair has ever been new, the new style SAT,but were gone after a trial period of limited success,I use the oldest, most worthless, least thread, cracked, worn out tires around, and win WAY MORE THAN MY SHARE.Just saying, new tires are not the answer to most situations. That 's all and good have your opinions, share, pull,go win lose and cry, still one freedom we can enjoy in the Great country we have yet. some choices still exist.

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 20, 2017 03:47AM
Joey,

Thanks for the encouragement.

Just trying to read through what you're saying, and pickup on what's helping you with "way more than your share of all the wins" that you are getting.

What is it that makes (as you call it) "the oldest, most worthless, least thread, cracked, worn out tires around" work for you?

If I'm hearing what you are saying, you need a really hard rubber compound with a shallow tread depth. We can do all that, and add a wider bar profile in a taller tire for a longer footprint.

Once we get this tire produced, it sounds like your tractor would be an excellent fit for a pair of these.

Price should not be a consideration, because we pay you $100 per win, so in no time flat, the winnings should pay for your tires.

Thanks again for the feedback, and we will keep updates coming as we get closer to a delivery date.

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires May 20, 2017 05:43AM
I have usually had the smallest tire in the slower lighter weight classes, several jackpot classes with over thirty entries had the smallest tire placed third two times with over 30 plus tractors in each. Many times have done the same at regular pulls all over, takes power and speed many times to use a bigger taller tire, not what most antiques have.and if they do,it is not a 14.9 tire.More pounds per square inch is key some times. Now sponsorship and money back is nice.LOL We are started out on a rainy day note again this pulling season, not good.

Are these tires available and how much are they? John

Re: 14.9x38 23 Degree Pulling Compound Tires September 05, 2017 08:40AM
John,

These tires are not yet available at this time. They are still in the works, though. Right now we are working on the getting the 18.4R38 tires in next month, and selling the 24.5x32, 30.5x32, 20.8R38, and 12-16.5 premium skid steer tires. We will continue to update you on the status of the tire as we know more information.

Feel free to like us on facebook and get up to the minute updates on what we have going on!

Thanks for the interest,
