8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 26, 2009 10:34AM
How many of you would like to see this class added to the line up at the Farm Machinery Show in 2010?

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 26, 2009 02:26PM
What's a LBS?

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 26, 2009 03:06PM
I assume LBS is the abbreviation for "pounds". 8500 LBS sounds like a heavy superstock class to me

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 26, 2009 04:54PM
Pro Farm ? That would be a JOKE

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 27, 2009 12:54AM
No, The trucks are a Joke and whats wrong with Hot Farm or Pro Farm

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 27, 2009 12:59AM
There is nothing wrong with the 8500 , Cant see them in Louisville unless the 9300 drop-out

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 27, 2009 09:51AM
need to drop saturday afternoon superfarm and ad the 4.1 limited pros awesome class

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 30, 2009 01:03PM
Or just run the superfarm class at 8500. It's more fun to watch at 8500 than 9300. It would never happen. But around here in Neb. 90% of the tractors drop down to 8500 with Neb Bush. It's a better class, more of a drivers class. Seems to be more entertaining with more spin outs at end.

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 27, 2009 12:59AM
I thought of that, but don't they run the 8200 dSS class. I'm thinking he's talking diesel trucks or some Hot Farm type class

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 27, 2009 02:08AM
A good 8500# 540 class would be nice as a intro for Louisville.. They need to let some more people in. The PPL has a nice Hot Farm class with some good looking and good running iron in it. Something like that would work. There is always good numbers at Gordyville and Cloverdale.

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 27, 2009 02:26AM
why would anyone think that a hot farm class should be at lousville? they already have an entry level class if you want to call it that, with the super farm tractors. now dont get me wrong i like to watch the hot farms but lousville is suposed to be the best of the bigest. so if you want to pull there go spend a bunch and get yourself a tractor that fits the classes they already run, and hope you get invited. the classes they should bring back are the mini rods and light supers if they are going to add anything at all

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 27, 2009 05:58AM
AMEN! no limited pro or anything like that, drop a super farm class and bring back the light supers, i know 10,000 pound pros also have three but i hate to see them dropped one of them because they are probably the best class there but i do agree the light supers is what needs to be back, the is also one of the best classes going, there are more great running light supers now than there have ever been and it would be real easy to fill a class or even two at the NFMS

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 27, 2009 10:07AM
they should add the light super and hot farm classes. who says they need to drop anything? just expand what they have. there is 3 nights and 1 afternoon sesson and usually all sold out. maybe add noon sessions to Thursday and Friday. it is like they say. if you build it, they will come.. add them both.

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 27, 2009 10:26AM
NO HOT FARM! go to local fair and watch them

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 27, 2009 10:44AM
Yes I am talking about the Hot Farm Tractors! and LBS is the abbreviation for pounds! Why would you not want to see this class run in Louisville???? I'm sure that there is alot of Hot Farm tractors out there that would probably beat alot of the super farm tractors if they weighted their tractors up to 9300 LBS. The Hot Farm class weather or not you want to admit it or not is probably one of the most growing and popular class in the US!

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 29, 2009 11:34AM
What rules are you talking ( not 466 I hope), There are alot of rules besides 466, some are 640,540, even unlimited

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 29, 2009 11:55AM
First, there are a bunch of classes that run at 8500 lbs & as Mark says a bunch of different rules all called "Hot Farm" so you need to be much more specific. From what I've seen most of the small cube HF classes are dominated by IH & the big cube classes by BB Deere, neither makes for a good show.

Second, bombers are probably the most popular stock cars in the country. Why don't the run them on Sunday at Daytona instead of those silly cup cars? After all there's only about 50 of them in the whole country. Truthfully you just made the point of why NOT to have them. If there are tons of them running at every county fair then they don't belong at a show like NFMS.

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 29, 2009 03:09PM
Yes I am talking about the 466 rule. And by the way in case you havent noticed by now this is a tractor pulling forum not a NASCAR forum! Please enlighten me as to where the super farm tractors run??? If I'm not mistaken they pull at county fairs as well.....If it wasnt for the fairboards around the U.S. NO ONE would have a place to pull

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 30, 2009 05:26AM
The NASCAR reference was an example of a premier motorsports event that has the premier vehicle of it's type, not the most popular vehicle of it's type.

The only justification for having SF at NFMS is that it's a GN class & that doesn't mean I agree that it should be there. Whether SF should be a GN class is another debate for another thread.

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 30, 2009 09:32AM
The ISPA have a LP class. It is a updated version of the PPL Hot Farm class. They run 9500 lbs, any cut of bias tire, and NO RETRICTOR plate. Removing the plate adds about 150-200 more hp. Like you said a very nice group of tractors.

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 29, 2009 03:38PM
Add it, then I will not feel bad at all about missing the event.
Take all the noise out of Louisville.
Run PS as the "big" class, then all the rest of the 7th grader tractor (hay rake puller) classes, SF, LPS, 8500lb 3"in 4" out, 8700lb. 4" in and 4.5" out, split them up by color, state, tire size, wheel style, ball bearing and ceramic ball bearing steering wheel spinner classes, roll cage, and umbrella class, make it so everyone can win.
Sell lots of beer and pillows.
The tractor teams can make piles of money selling pillows with their tractor's picture on them !!

Don't feel bad about missing the event. I really dought if anyone will miss YOU not being there.

Re: 8500 LBS Tractors at the 2010 National Farm Machinery Show June 30, 2009 06:57PM
An 8500lb class most places in America is a 466 3"in x 3" out class usually called pro farm/pro field and some will even let the 540" lim. pro tracors join if they drop down to 8200lbs or lower the drawbar etc... I now run a LLSS but got my start several years running an 8500lb pro farm tractor. I have as much respect for this class as anyone but respectfully do not see a place for it at Louisville. The NFMS pull is for the best of the best. If you know what you are doing you can build a competitive 8500lb tractor for next to nothing and not only that, you talk about hot farm style classes, well the rules are different everywhere you go in America it seems. There are to many other great classes missing at Louisville and as someone mentioned earlier the Lim. Pros would be ok, but I am in agreement with the rest of you who think they should have the 6000lb light supers. This is by far one of the best classes to watch and has had a great turnout at Tomah and Bowling Green, I can only imagine how great it could be at the NFMS. And as far as the LSS go, would someone please dethrone Mark Peissig this year. He is a great guy and runs an awsome machine(really looks good with the new Binder Lite 9600 metal) but the man has won the title EVERY year it's been back on the GN circuit. Sorry, I'm rambling about something for another thread, but anyway these are just my thoughts and I personally don't see any room at Louisville for what most people consider(especially at 466") a beginers class. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who ran competitively in this class for 7 years. Thanks for listening to my thoughts guys! "The Deere Hunter" 560 Farmall(368cid alky) LLSS!
