Timing on d312

Looking for some information about a stock d312. I know static timing is 13*. I'm using this tractor for pulling in a n/a farm stock class. 3000 rpm limit, 6mph. How far can one bump the timing up to? I have heard some of the high rpm engines run them way up near 40*. |

In your application I wouldn't get too carried away. You may want to start at 16-18 degrees. |

The ones running up close to 40* would have no advance in the pump. Your pump builder would be the one to give you a place to start, if pump is still all original, then bump it up 2* at a time and see where it falls off at. |

Thanks guys. I unfortunately do not have a Dyno. The nearest one is $75 an hour. They touch everything. I will bump it up a couple to 16 and see how she goes. Thanks once again. |
