Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 09, 2017 08:41AM
Trying to build this Midwest Pullers Association Hot Farm Class. Would love to see some new iron there this weekend!

3000rpm, no water/N2O/injectables, no cut tires are really the only rules at this point while we try and figure out what works and what doesn't.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 10, 2017 08:56AM
Bump to the top!

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 10, 2017 01:11PM
If you are starting this class you need to be running some Safety Equipt. At the least a Blanket and Wheely Bars and should be a Cage.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 10, 2017 03:18PM
What size turbo?

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 11, 2017 03:54AM
There isn't a size limit at this point. Most of the guys are running 3lm's. Would like to see some Garrets and BW's show up to see what's comparable and what's not.

We will have safety equipment rules after the meeting this winter. Not sure you need a cage and scatter blanket but appreciate the input.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 11, 2017 06:13AM
Where is the area of the state that will be covered by your organization?

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 11, 2017 06:15AM
It's pretty much the central Iowa area. More or less, if it's less than an hour and a half from the center of Des Moines that's the area that's covered.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 11, 2017 12:08PM
Wanted to add that there are Hot Farm rules on the MPA website but they don't apply any longer. This class is in a transitional phase and we're trying to see what's out there and what people will run before new rules are set in stone.

If you run 3000rpm, no water, and no cut tires we'd love to see you there tomorrow!

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 11, 2017 12:30PM
Congratulations, that's about the dumbest set of turbo rules I've seen.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 11, 2017 12:44PM
If it's so dumb, show up tomorrow and try to make it better.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 11, 2017 12:53PM
No thanks, I guess I'm weird, but I'm not driving 60 miles with a 3lm tractor to pull against "run what you brung" guys who can't compete with tractors like their own in other associations, so they like to be a big fish in a small pond. Seen it many times before.
Johnny Deere.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 11, 2017 01:07PM
maybe if you got rid of the baby charger you could pull in the big boy class???

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 11, 2017 01:26PM
That was adult. Just what I've seen many times before. No big deal to me, it's just not what we pull. But I do wish you all well, pulling can be alot of fun.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 11, 2017 01:32PM
Yeah, you're really showing how mature you are with the sarcasm and calling someone else's rules "the dumbest thing you've ever seen." Lol. Stay home.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 11, 2017 02:03PM
Show me a dumber turbo rule.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 11, 2017 02:09PM
3lm only.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 11, 2017 02:14PM
Your answer makes no sense.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 11, 2017 04:26PM
West Cent Iowa

3000 RPM
466 cubes (504 run 2800)
13 mm 100, 10 mm A, 450 Roosa
Box 3LM 466
Non cut 20.8 38
Rpm sensor plug
Safety equipment recommended
No speed limit

Probably 10-12 in WCI, 15 in GP, and 8-10 in NeNeb??
Good iron and decent show. 18-20 mph and smoke

3200 RPM Class
Bush, WCIP, neneb
P pump
20.8 cut tires
Safety equip and fire suit required

Probably 4 in WCI, 15 in Bush, 3-5 in NeNeb
Basically llp without water and a small charger and tires. 20-25 mph good show

Would be awesome to have a class with the same rules across multiple orgs.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 11, 2017 10:50PM
My tractor would meet those rules, I'd like to pull with them sometime.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 12, 2017 01:02AM
John you should just stay home. You are one of the pullers who throw crying fits because you get beat instead of focusing on getting down the track with what you have. 3lm rules are for guys stuck in the old days. There are fifteen turbos out there that are better or the same now. Limit the hole size and go pulling. Why don't we all just have a baking contest and start with the exact same recipe if we're going to have a 3lm only rule?

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 11, 2017 01:25PM
If you're 60 miles away, I'd come to the pull and hook. There's only four tractors that ever show and they all run a 3lm anyway.

The payout is great as well and guaranteed at least 200 to win and down the line to 50 for fourth place at every pull. You won't find a nicer bunch of guys just trying to get a class going.

Jerry, I think the plan is to follow suit with what others are doing close to here. When Justin and I were talking we discussed exactly that; you want to make it as enticing to the tractors in the surrounding area as it is to the members of that club that are local. Keeps new blood in the show more often than a set of rules that cater to a few guys. Not sure that a 16mph speed limit is what anyone wants but it works in the ECIPA very well so I'm sure it's not off the table completely.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 11, 2017 01:35PM
Whatever you decide I hope it works, by the way to keep pullers happy, Truck or Tractor, Shake up the Pulling Order so that the same classes don't pull First and same Classes don't pull last that helps a lot.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 11, 2017 01:39PM
Appreciate the encouragement, Jerry. Thanks!

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 11, 2017 12:45PM
If you want to start a new class, regardless of what the class is, look into what other close associations have. Then you will get tractors from there to pull with you,you can't have you're own Rules and expect to get much of a Turnout. Check East Central Ia, IAMO, West Central Ia, and others and make rules so competitors can Pull without having to change anything. Good Luck

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 12, 2017 03:09AM
16 mph too hot to farm is enjoyable modern day antique pulling. Go watch videos from 1980s bowling green prostocks, very similar to watch 1000 horsepower dragging the sled the last 150 feet and about the same speeds It works real well as a change of pace from a 25 to 30 mph classes. The specters and promotors really enjoy the equilibrium of farmy look with performance and just enough safety equipment to not look like a full blown pulling tractor.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 12, 2017 05:06AM
Yeah last month went to the pulls in Warren County the guy with the 6030 I think he was the biggest show off of ever seen I have to say it ran good but he flew little dangerous

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 12, 2017 05:39AM
People love to see that tractor run just like they like to see pretty red ones go. What they don't get to see is all the bitching i have to put up with just because we aren't part of the group... yet.. and because three guys think they make a whole class; and just want to show up, collect 200 or 300 bucks just for being present, and then go home. How many times you think people are going to want to see you finish in the exact same order with the same three or four tractors?

I am about the show. The show is why we're there.  Without a show you'd be sitting at home. Biggest show off because we won? Hardly.

Thank God the MPA association (Glen and Justin especially thanks to you two guys) is in place so people like you who hide behind a keyboard can't ruin a show for everyone.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 12, 2017 06:47AM
1985 called, they want their 3LM-466's returned!!!

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 12, 2017 09:22AM
Brock Menold can't be an adult pulling a tractor, I'll bet he is 13 years old playing keyboard games in his basement somewhere.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 12, 2017 09:35AM
Who is 1985 and why did they call instead of text?

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 12, 2017 09:43AM
No one called me, so I'll keep mine until they call.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 12, 2017 10:44AM
I'm asking because I honestly don't know. Not trying to be a smarta$$.

What are the 5 generations better than the 3LM? For classes with a limited charger rule or 3LM rule, what would be a good replacement with similar size/reliability, better performance, and similar cost??

Can someone compare and contrast these?

S2E? S300?

Brock what are you running on your 531?

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 12, 2017 09:27AM
Go get em Brock, slap a 3lm on that beast and kick their butts.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 12, 2017 09:10AM
Stacy maddona way before Rihanna there was u2 and blondie and music still on mtv. And someone's still preoccupied with 1985

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 12, 2017 11:01AM
The 2017 equivalent of a 3lm would be a S360 (part number 177272), t4 foot and 2.36" inducer. Runs a hell of a lot better also

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 13, 2017 04:55AM
Hey, I had a ton of fun last night. I appreciate Norm and Jenn more and more every time I'm there. True sportsman/sportswomen. Thanks to you guys, and Jerry too, for trying to be inclusive of us. It's just too much tractor for that class. Is what it is.

I'm not about all this drama on here so ill leave that all alone.

Major thanks to Justin and the MPA, can't wait to see what's in store for the tractors and until then I really appreciate you making a place in the show for our machine!

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 12, 2017 11:19AM
Those Central Iowa boys are just angry because a bone stock 4020 runs better than their IH's do.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 12, 2017 12:28PM
If that were true the 6030 guy wouldn't need a turbo at all, but he complains because his tractor is a replacement for his teeny little p p.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 12, 2017 12:47PM
I am not being a smart A with my question as I am 1000 miles from you guys. How do run a Hot farm without water injection ? I ran a 4320 and once we got a good rotary pump and a 2.4 charger I kept burning up the exhaust fins on the turbo. We had a no water rule also but as always some were running it and other stuff. Also good luck with your new class. I've been there and done it for over 25 years and have never seen a non-State or National class work without a lot of issues. That's why I gave it up a few years ago.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 12, 2017 06:15PM
It's not really a Hot Farm class, more like Farm Stock only turned up but they don't have any Rules so anything kinda goes. I'm just kinda a Bystander but they are gonna have some big trouble on the Safety side if they don't get some rules in place such as Helmet etc.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 13, 2017 02:06AM
Wrong again, well nothing you say can be given any creditability, because of your shown ignorance, there were 45 non turbo 6030 Deere tractors produced. Check it out and prove me wrong.

Says the guy who's talking about other guys wangs on the internet.

Don't you hate it when your wrong so often?

Besides, since when is a P Pump a wang? You should choose your words more carefully.

You should run a tractor instead of just your mouth.

True, they did make them. Ours was not an N/A tractor to start off, however. Believe they were all rotary pump as well. Essentially a 5020 with a 6030 rear/trans.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 14, 2017 06:17PM
Wow is it all over now

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 15, 2017 04:10AM
We're pulling at the state fair today so long as the 3lm that was offered to us for free gets there in time.

Re: Colo, Iowa MPA Hot Farm Saturday 8/12/17 6PM August 15, 2017 12:24PM
Are they having a 3lm pull at the fair? I thought it was just the big boy pull on Wednesday.
