Sbjd 8.1 vs 7.6

Going to build a 466 in. Sbjd. 13 mm p pump, 3x3 turbo, unlimited rpms. Was wondering what the advantages were with a decubed 8.1 was over a 7.6, or older 466. Also considering a set up using 4.25in pistons with an offset ground 9 liter crank. Just looking for some advice. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 08/15/2017 04:30PM by mefarms68. |

I haven't done this myself, but I believe there are 466 Deere's built both with a stock 8.1 stroke & ~4.4 pistons and with 4.25 bore (or smaller) and a longer crank. I believe it comes down to how much bore your head guy needs to flow the air. More stroke is better up to the point that the cylinders don't fill. The other thing to consider is replacement parts when something breaks. Pistons and sleeves are custom either way, if the crank breaks you will be back on the track with less money out of your pocket if you can drop a stock crank in. |
