Horsepower Limit August 22, 2017 07:37AM
Is it possible to make 2000hp with a 3x4 charger and water (no intercooler) in a 640ci 3000rpm class? I have heard of guys making 1500hp in the pro farm class (Badger State, ECIPA, ITPA) but just wondered what the limit was if anyone has found it?

I know the KY and Southern IN guys with the 3000rpm no CI limit no turbo limit make somewhere around 2500 but I'd like to keep the discussion limited to 3x4, water, 640ci, and 3000rpm.

Thanks!

And what name do they label this class as? Farm Stock? Just what safety equipment is mandatory on these 3000 rpm, 2500 horsepower pulling beasts?

Go to USA Pullers website and check out the 12klb videos. Full cage, tube frame, normal safety rules. No limits.

1500hp is about max for 3x4 640 with water only I'm told.

The engines don't need to be 640 for 2000 hp, but getting the amount of air it takes through a 3 inch charger could be tough. We have classes here that run 90mm (3.5 inch) and they get close to 1400 on a chassis dyno (with Intercooler but without water and 427 at 2700 rpm)
