4320 hot farm

How far can one push a JD 4320 to be competitive in a local hot farm class 9500-11500lb? Can the stock 404 be built up enough with pump and injectors or should one just look at replacing it with a 55 series 466. |

I ran enhanced with a 4320 for years. The pump is the limiting factor compared to an IH 100 or of course an A-pump. In the 9000 I was very competitive. The heavy class mid pack or less. I couldn't run water and started pushing the limits and couldn't keep a turbo on it. It would burn up the exhaust wheel. I didn't do anything to the engine. If I were to do it over I would go with a 55 -466 type engine and build it like a super farm because that's what you end up competing against. Good luck. Love to see a good running 4320. |

that's why farm stock needs to have speed limits set so any tractor can compete ,open farm any speed ,7 or 8 for farm stock, how does the farmer / and this farmer is the one of the farmers that pays his taxes that supports the county fairs with the money which funds the event / that wants to take his 4320 to the county fair compete with high hp tractors that can run 3rd hi or 15 mph or plus ? than goes home saying that was a waste of time n money don,t need to that again after ending up last place |

The 4320 can be built up to compete in a hot farm class the pump can be limiting, if you run a lite class 9000lbs you will not have a problem keeping up with the power cubes and fuel the 4320 is a smaller chassis than a 4440 ect so balance plays a large part. I also agree that it is nice to see a good new generation tractor run. |

I think I may just try a 450 roosa and some lines and injectors and possibly turbo. I'm not 100% sure what the local pulls in Nebraska allow as far as farm stock or hot farm. I'm not even sure how much I will be able to get away and pull so may just get our feet wet next year and see how it goes and have some fun. |

In eastern NE 10,700 & 11,700 would be a maybe on competing, depending if they run everything together or separate. If you're planning on hot farm you might as get a 466 + bigger pump & turbo because the 404 won't be close when some of the tractors are running 25 mph down the track. Unfortunately there's not a lot of 8700 or 9700 farm turbo classes around and only a few have farm 7500 or 7700 turbo classes. |

So may as well just build a 466 light pro or super farm the way it sounds in Nebraska. Guess I don't really want to take a decent looking 4320 and gut it. |

Ya I don't know we've been tossing it around too but to do a hot farm you might as well go to 3,000 or 3,200. |

A .450 Roosa & 3LM, it'd compete in the stock farm class. Or, swap in a 466 w/ a 3LM & pull 3000 RPM, we'd more than welcome it either way! |

Black Stack what are the rules in the 3000 class or what association would one look into? |

466 cube limit, 3LM-466 turbo, stock appearing injection pump or 10mm A pump upgrade. 20.8-38 or 18.4-42 road-worn tires, wheelie bars, tie bars, clutch blanket or steel plate around clutch housing. Northeast Nebraska Pullers Association has a Facebook page. |
