John Deere pump conversion September 04, 2017 06:57AM
Can you convert the John Deere p pumps to work on ih? I would assume the only thing would be the delivery cam?

Re: John Deere pump conversion September 04, 2017 07:00AM
Sorry the a pump, not p pump.

Re: John Deere pump conversion September 04, 2017 12:42PM
Yes it will work

Re: John Deere pump conversion September 05, 2017 11:36AM

Change nothing.

Ok thanks for the help

Re: John Deere pump conversion September 05, 2017 03:14PM
Yes it will work but a john deere has a right hand pump and an ih has a left hand pump so your access plate will be on the back which is not a big deal however your rack will be on the opposite side so you will have to modify your mounting plate.

That is what I was wondering for certain... I was thinking the right hand side was going to through a ball in it... So something from maybe like a case or such?

What about a P that was on a JD going to JI Case 504? Any issues with rotation there?

Re: John Deere pump conversion September 19, 2017 01:21AM
case turns cc

Re: John Deere pump conversion September 19, 2017 10:32PM
Yes, Case turns CC. But is there anything that would prove to be an obstacle to taking a right hand JD pump and running it on a left side Case?

People seem to confuse two things here. Pump rotation direction, and side of engine it's mounted on. The two things are in no way connected to one another. Most engines we deal with have right hand pump rotation such as, IH, Deere, AC, Oliver (Waukesha and Hercules) Ford 401/474/456 etc, Cummins B & C series. Only a few have left hand rotation, J.I. Case, and Minneapolis Moline, Perkins 354 are the only 3 I can think of that we would be putting pulling pumps on. Now the IH 400 series, Case, Oliver/Waukesha, Hercules 478, Perkins 354, Molines, AC 262, Deere 329/359/414 are all mounted on the left side but not all rotate the same direction. IH 361/407, AC 301/426, Deere 404/466/496 mount on right side. When putting an inline pump on a different engine, the direction of rotation needs to be addressed, and then the location of the levers go along with which side it's mounted on. Curt said it best above about A pumps. They can be put on opposite side of engine, it's just a minor issue dealing with the access cover being on the block side. Early Case engines like 830/930/1030/1200 all had their pump mounted on the right side of the engine, but it is still a left hand rotating, and style pump. You see the back of the pump housing, and the feed pump is facing the block. Now some people get excited when they see a later DT466 style engine, they are the new generation engines, and while they did come with P pumps, and P7100 on the 530, they are very different engines, that do mount the pump up higher, and they rotate counter clockwise. Clear as mud? lol!
