Engine building September 07, 2017 09:56PM
I am starting with an IH 436 block. I have been pulling farm stock. I want to jump up to the either after chore or improved farm. Just curious what you guys think would be some must have for the engine. Should be running between 4k and 4500 rpms. Thank you in advance

#1 steel flywheel and SFI clutch. Then you can start working on the rest.

I have a clutch. More so concerned about the engine. my plan is to fire ring it

Re: Engine building September 08, 2017 06:54AM
*also do rod and main bearings. What else to support a 4500 rpm motor

R u going to be running a rotary pump

Re: Engine building September 09, 2017 03:49AM
Yes a rotary 13mm

Hard to believe you will turn that much RPM with a rotary. 3500 is more realalistic.
If its red get a 426 head put heavier springs in it, bigger idler suport bolt, alittle more cam and cut ur pistons for cam.
And get rid of the stock balancer/pulleys on front of crank.
And weld or pin ur timeing gear on the crank.

My tach says 4300 rpm. I guess it could be wrong. Anyway. Okay thank you very much. Do you think the stock rods, push rods, and pistons will hold up?

Re: Engine building September 10, 2017 06:20AM
I would put in better push rods also because of the heavier valve spring presure.
Stock rods and pistons will work for you

How old are you ?

Re: Engine building September 10, 2017 03:02PM
Thank you guys. And 32. Why does that matter

Re: Engine building September 11, 2017 01:18PM
Slip in a 466 while your at it that will be a cheap investment
