Connecting Rod Hardening
|
Altered Puller
|
Just wondering if anyone could tell me where I could send a set of dt466 rods to get hardened, balanced, resized, and bushings.
Would like to find a place that does everything start to finish. Curious on price also. Thanks |

Yea, I do that. 301-739-1183 about a 3 day turn around. I don't resize the bearing ends. I run them up to 42 to 45 Rc. Tempered 3 times. |

How can you harden a rod by taking the material to temperature where it can achieve martensitic transformation while not expecting distortion on the ends ? Now if your a bit crafty and on your game......
if you quench below the martensite start temperature and age at or slightly higher temp with proper alloying you can potentially mitigate carbide precipitation and use the untransformed austenite to increase stability when cooling to room temperatur and then it maybe would be where you would not have to resize the ends. |

maybe

He didnt say they don't need to be resized. He simply said he doesnt resize them. maybe hes just a heat treat shop and not a machine shop. |
