466?
|
Hi, what would be the best turbo size on the hot side for a 466, 3'' intake wheel, open rpm?
Thanks |

You need to tell us what turbo and a little more about the engine |

Care to share your reasoning on the 3" turbine choice dairy blend? |

Results, the 3x3 is top dog right now, example would be the 8500 limited pros (big tire hot farms) have a 3x4 turbo limit yet they are almost all running a 3x3 turbo. Even better tho call a turbo builder and ask! |

Would you be surprised to learn that several of the 8500 limited pro's ran at the top of the class with a larger than 3" turbine? PPL hot farms have a 3x3.5 rule and very few of them run a 3" turbine. LLSS tractors can run this style turbo also on alcohol or diesel and a 3" turbine is probably not going to be the norm there either. I won't tell you that a small turbine isn't a good choice on an 8500 style tractor, just maybe not the best choice and certainly not a blanket choice for any 466 open rpm application. To much depends on what your engine is set up to do in what class and what rpm range its set up to do it in. |

Curious, i keep searching for you on results pages but nothing comes up lol. Maybe you could back up your claims with some results?? I’d like to see a winning 8500 limited pro that’s not running harts turbos (3x3) As for alcohol I only drink it so idk what works for a turbo on them. Ppl hot farms are not 466ci. Yes all tractors are different but a 3” exhaust is the best fit for the majority. Like I stated earlier, call a turbo builder or dyno operator and see what they tell you. |

Lol dairy it seems maybe you need to call Brandon and ask about their turbo offerings . Maybe not everyone was eligible to get that turbo yet who knows ; . However if you want to stay safe a 3" turbine will get one down the track. Ppl hot farms are 510 why wouldn't a 3" turbine be their flavor of choice also? How about Bob profarms or Ktpa? Very few 3" there also? |

Oh forgot to add #2 had a big turbine harts on all summer, #1 did at least some of the season. #2 had the most wins during the season. In the next 10 down some had new CDS HX60's with larger turbines for the season and some were switching over to them at the end of the season. It'll be interesting to see how many 3" turbines are left in the top fifteen of the 85 next year. One last thing, when you call turbo builders and dyno operators about the latest and greatest or even the owners of the latest and greatest themselves one may not receive the information one asks for. |

‘466?’ I guess I would take ‘curious’ advice he seems to really know his stuff... wait he hasn’t even given you any advice? Only critiqued mine, seems pretty credible LOL |

Dairy you are exactly correct I haven't given the op any advice yet. My advice to the op would be to answer the question lewis asked as their is currently not enough information to give a credible answer. |

Dairy blend have you built engines or have a pulling tractor for that class that you know so much information on? You seem to always have an answer for everyone. . |
