20.8 powersavers compared to deep treads, how much speed will be lost November 27, 2017 06:19AM
I have a question for the tire and trans specialists out there. we will be switching from 20.8-38 bfg radial powersavers in our class to the friestone deep tread double cuts. my question is, how much ground speed will we be losing by going to the firestone which is considerably shorter than the bfg? are we talking a half tooth in the trans? a whole tooth? or will a person not be able to notice much of a loss of speed? we are limited to 3000 rpm also. thanks for your input

Rule of them usually is 4" in circumference equals close to a full gear faster or slower depending on tire going higher or lower.

that seems like a lot for only 4 inches around difference.34's to 38's is usually a gear,that's 4 inches in height,-- diameter

You can run the same gear, the fire stones will have less slippage to make up for the shorter
Height. Pros and cons to both, but 23 degrees hook tighter.
