Air filter to restrictive???
|
Looking to put a air filter setup on a 3×3 hot farm tractor. Has anyone tried this on the dyno??? Its getting old buying new compressor wheels. Thinking about stacking a few K+N filters. |

I ran 2 stacked KN filters on a 3.6 by 3 and couldn't tell the difference when they were on or off |

Ok so the next question us how big does it need to be how many CFPM does it have to flow?? Did some reserch and not having any luck. K+N couldn't point me in the right direction either. If someone could help me with this it would be appreciated. I'm running a 466 open rpms with a Harts 3×3 How many cpfm does a tractor like this use?? Thanks |

A-FE made me a pair of custom cone filters for the 4430/3x3 Works very well |

Any pictures of this??? What are the dimensions??? |

On our setup 2 14"×5" k&n filters stacked with the flow through lid lost 10-15 hp on a 3x3 turbo. The turbo wheel really likes the clean air though. |

This it the setup I built AFE helped with custom size of filters.. I do not have the sizes of the filters.. 6" intake dia, maybe 14" long. |

Did all of that fit under the hood or did you have to raise the hood ? Thanks. |

You will loose hp. It's a compromise of either buying intake wheels, or maybe more, or losing some power. |

It all fits under the hood. Hood is in the stock location. I decided long ago that I would gladly give up some HP for a longer life turbo and engine. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/14/2018 02:43PM by gonzo 1066. |

Are you sure that it's dirt or some other kind of foreign material that is taking out the compressor wheels? |

Gonzo how difficult was it to size the filters with AFE? Thinking with my setup this is the only real option.
Dirt or some other material is taking my compressor wheels out. Done the same damage the last two years. Filters look like a much better option to me. I’ll lose 10 hp to prolong the compressor wheel and engine life. |

My engine builder, with a lot of dyno time says his experiences shows a 14" cover with air cleaner filter in the cover almost always shows 15 - 17 hp loss, compared to open sides only. |

Is 15 hp worth a 5000 dollar charger or a set of 1500 dollar pistons. |

theres a yt video of a dyno session with 19 different filters.the results are very interesting,a few actually made more power |

I cant remember the guys name at A-FE that helped me.. BUT it was simple, I told him my intake pipe diameter and the length I wanted. Two weeks later I had my filters.. |
