A buddy and I run JD 4430'srunning around 4-500HP both of us have busted wedges [sheard key off ]. pulling 12 and 14000 lbs classes. GO TO PRESS STEEL its a lot safer. A few years back at our local fair a guy on a 6030 actually had one of his cast centers explode, not fun.there again use press steel.

I have around 700 hp, used cast till they broke,people told me it would happen,it did !!!!!!!!!! Lucky it was not worse than a little trouble,could be real ugly.Steel hubs and wheels much safer,we need to stay safe for insurance issues.

I have for sale a set of Cap Bros(C3 Precision Mfg) hubs for sale. They are unlimited horsepower hubs and fit a 3 1/8 axle. Briefly had them on JD 4010 axles. Like brand new.

I sheared the key in the wedge and cracked the cast center on my 4010 with less than 150hp. It happened right at the end of the pull where she was digging hard.

I've seen everything break cap bros, nine bolt hubs, weld on hubs, cast centers, most importantly try to stay away from nine bolts dual hubs and IH u bolt cast centers.

what size Capp Bros ???????? Never know if key was tight,if taper lock was tight and retighte,very important to have clean smooth surfaces and key tight as possible and proper sized to application.

Have a friend with a john deere with 1000 plus hp using jd cast dual centers,dbl cut radials 20.8 for six seasons now with no issues.Hubs have to be kept very tight or no dout they will clean the key right off.

SodbusterB Your friend is very lucky and if you are good friends please tell him to change them , with 1000 plus HP something will happen in time. Even if you keep the hubs tight. Been there done that. Merry christmas to all.
