Ralph Banter told me many, many years ago that a Cockshutt 40, 50 and 570 could easily handle an Allison or twin blown Big Block Chevys. Of course that was driving it directly into the ring gear pinion. If you were going to keep the transmission, you'd have to do some "beefing up" to it. I'd say around 2,000 horsepower, slightly more would be their limit. |

How can you identify cockshutt 40 and 50 to know difference? Do they both have same gear ratios? |

A 40 has faster gears,I have a 570 rear and frame for sale with a new frame set up for a Cummins that ive got to get some pictures of and sent out today also a custum gear set that belongs to some friends of mine that could be bought cheap to go along with it is a cummins engine plate the engine i listed is sold 570s are a lot stronger rear and trans 40 and 50 trans are weak270 566 2901 call if pictures are wanted after i explain everything about it then i will do s |

Put a billet carrier in it or a minimum a pinion follower. The right side of the carrier is prone to breaking |
