Tire question for antique pullers,,"double cut" January 19, 2018 12:30PM
So, how come antique pullers call V cut tires "double cut"?????
They are V cut. Or single cut tires!
If the tires are REALLY double cut, you would have twice as many V 's on the tire!
Look at some 30.5-32 DOUBLE cut tires!
There are even some triple cut tires!
If you read the NTPA and PPL rule book REALLY close, the 30.5-32 is the only tire legal to double cut.
Except for 24.5-32 in the P.S. Class.

They usually mean "full cut" when they say "double" meaning that they have cut both the tops and the fronts of the lugs. In antique pulling the two main cuts are top cut and full cut. They may confuse top cut with single cut and full cut with double. That is what I figure they mean.
