Try J-R Machine in Salem OH. He made a 7 1/2 gear for my mexican 4455. He does great work. His name is Jim Pollack. 330-537-4203. |

Atlas makes them. Also, what slot are you putting it in? Deere used a different shift collar on the Quad transmissions for the A and D range gears. The synchro was the same for all ranges and matches the 4020. |

If you can get a hold of Atlas, he makes a nice product. He can do different ratios within reason what will fit in that spot. Uses the B or 2-5 spot in the trans depending on quad or synchro. You’ll have to machine the gear off the counter shaft, cut key ways, press and weld the new one on.
Shift collars on the lower shaft are all the same, 4010 right through 4455, the D range and 6-8 slot as well as the B and 2-5 slot have different ratios from the quad to synchro. A or 1-3 and C or 4-7 are the same from quad to synchro. |

Well, I know from experience that at least some 4430 have a different shift collar on the A & D range. We put a custom gear in a 4430 Quad D range and the first gear didn’t fit, different diameter and tooth count on the shift collar. Looking in the parts book, the quad and synchro have different parts listed.
As far as where to put it, yes, typically the custom gear goes in the 2/5 - B slot, but if you need to keep that for mph classes or already have a custom gear there you can put it in the 6/8 - D slot, understanding you will lose the low side gears (1,2,4,6 in a syncre or 1&2 in a Quad). |

You are correct, 4010/4020 used the two of the same shift collar, looks like 4320 the changed the rear most collar for some reason. Sounds like your custom D range gear had a 4020 sized collar splines machined. |
