Motorsports Mayhem returns to the Richland County Fairgrounds this Saturday, May 12th starting at 11am. This event is one of the most popular events in the Four Seasons of Fun schedule. Organizers anticipate over 5000 people coming from around the Midwest to enjoy an entire day of fun. After a long winter and cold spring, make sure you take advantage of this local, inexpensive entertainment supporting many local charities. There is truly something for everybody at Motorsports Mayhem.
Event admission remains only $10 for the entire day’s entertainment. Children 6 and under remain FREE. You have several options for discounted tickets. Presale tickets are available at Jones Chevy, Napa Auto Parts, and Vetesnik Powersports for only $8. Vetesnik Powersports has also sponsored a reduced $8 admission price for any individuals that takes advantage of the new ATV/UTV trails and rides their ATV/UTV directly to the event. All trails are now marked all the way to the fairgrounds and a trail map can be found at www.DaytonRidgeRunners.com. ATV, snowmobile, and dirt bike drag races at 11am: This popular event features a variety of classes including stock vehicles with everyday riders, including children, to custom drag vehicles with professional riders. A full list of drag classes are listed online. Extra bleachers are available for spectators. Registration begins at 8am with racing starting at 11am. Truck and tractor pull at noon: Competitors are expected locally and from around the Midwest. Two pulling tracks will feature a variety of pulling classes. Randy Olson and his crew maintain an awesome pulling track to assure an efficient and entertaining show. Six pulling classes will be featured hooked to the big sled including the diesel truck class with a guaranteed purse of $1250 to win. Pulling classes are listed online. The second pulling track will feature each class of the sanctioned Tricounty Mini Rods. Once the pulling classes are completed, many of Southwest Pullers will have a test and tune to provide great entertainment between the demolition derby heats. It is rare that you can watch both a pull and a demolition derby at the same time, especially for only $10. Puller registration starts at 9am with pulling starting at noon. Twisted Metal Demolition Derby at 3pm: One of the main attractions of Motorsports Mayhem is the huge Twisted Metal Demolition Derby. Over 100 cars and trucks have competed in the past and they anticipate an even larger turn out in 2018. With the track set close to the grandstands, spectators have an awesome view of the show. They have classes from small stock cars to large welded trucks. Rob Wanless and Jason Cox have organized the event and demolition pit for years and really have awesome teams putting together one of the most entertaining demolition derbies in the area. Vehicle inspections and registration starts at 8am with the demolition derby starting at 3pm. Car and Truck Drags at 9pm: The day finishes with car and truck drags on the pulling track. The drags will start around 9pm and feature many local racers with a 100% payback of entry fees to the winners. Shawn Grimm has organized these drags for years and is happy to provide additional information for anybody interested in racing. The diesel truck class has historically been very impressive and entertaining. Other events: As with all of the Four Seasons of Fun events, there are multiple other activities to enjoy besides the featured motorsports events. Main Street Bike and Hobby will have remote controlled car races behind the grandstands with 100% payback for the winners starting at 11am. Kindschi pedal pulls will have a FREE pedal pull for kids 12 and under starting at 1pm behind the grandstands. For a small additional fee, bounce houses are available for the kids and helicopter rides take off from the grounds and fly around the Richland Center area. Multiple craft fair vendors will be set up. Near the Dull Building, spectators can try their skills on the mechanical bull. Concessions are provided supporting local charities including The Knights of Columbus and Richland Center Kiwanis. When attending, please thank the volunteers working throughout the event. Each volunteer has the option to select a specific charity that will get a minimum of $10 per hour donation for each hour that the volunteer works. Many others volunteer due to their love of our community and their passion for the motorsports activities. An online sign up is available with a few volunteer spots remaining if you would like to raise money for your charity of choice. Event details and the volunteer sign up can be found at www.hybridredneck.com. See you May 12th! Thank you to all the spectators, competitors, sponsors, volunteers for helping make Motorsports Mayhem 2018 a success. We were able to have the demo derby, kids pedal pull, Hot Shot's Secret Diesel Truck Dyno, and snowmobile grass drags. 2000 people in attendance and we are donating $5500 to charities from hours they worked for their cause. I want to personally apologize for the demo derby starting late, I made the decision to let some late derby competitors still enter the derby and that delayed my start. I need to stick to my start times if weather allows it, and weather was not an issue at 3pm on Saturday. Track was built and ready to go, it was 100% my decision and I won't let it happen again. Without spectators we don't have anyone to derby in front of. See you all June 30th at Churning Dirt at the Richland County Fairgrounds We are having the first annual Vetesnik Powersports Screamin' Half Mile Flat Track Race during the day as well as the Hot Shot's Secret Diesel Truck call out with dyno qualifying during the day and the top trucks competing against each other in pulling and drag racing later in the evening. ATV and Dirtbike drags will be back, possibly the snowmobiles and that night Badger State Tractor Pullers and Tri-County Pullers Inc. will take center stage at 630 pm followed by the Shawn's Auto Repair & Performance truck and car drags starting around 930pm.
