Big Block vs. Small Block July 15, 2009 08:52AM
For a 3000 RPM class which can you get the most performance out of? Which is more economical to build and work on?

Thanks for feedback !

what are your rules? At low RPM's it's hard to beat stroke but if you have no CID limit there is no replacement for displacement.

No cube limit, Stock appearing engine for that make tractor, Head for that make engine, A-pump, No water injection, 3000 RPM limit.

A majority of our guys pull in both the MPH classes and the open (No MPH Limit) classes.

The small block tractors have a hard time running with the big blocks in the (No MPH Limit) classes but seem to be more competitive with them in the MPH classes.

Is there anyway to compensate for the extra cubes the big blocks have?

There was a similar thread on here not too long ago, and it was pretty much agreed that in RPM classes, it's hard to beat a binder. I stated then that there's alot of guys hauling red tractors with Deere hats and license plates. Another Deere puller said he'd been pulling for a long time and the red ones where tough to beat.
