Has anyone taken the bore in to 4.250" on a 466 JD. Looking for something for a 410 class that could possibly get bigger.

I am being told the 466 has the better head than a 404. Just curious

404 and 466 are the same engine except the bore. you'd be better off to de stroke a 466 and keep the big bore. a late 466 head won't fit on a 404. the valves hit the sleeves

Go small bore more stroke is more torque. Lot of guys running 4.25 x 5.5 for a 466 combo. A good head shop can make a 4.25 bore work fine.
