Rockey. Please introduce yourself to someone on the pull committee. We appreciate your work, and you should be thanked in person. Smokey (sled hooker)

Freeport, IL Pull-Don Slama July 18, 2009 02:14AM
Who'd of thought you'd need long underwear to watch a SUMMER national! But it was sure nice to see the warmth of Don Slama when he literally gave the coat off his back to a fan sitting just down from me. Besides a great puller, that proved he's an awesome guy! My hat's off to you Don!

On another note, EXCELLENT track at Freeport...snuffed out a few strong machines!

Re: Freeport, IL Pull Track July 18, 2009 05:09PM
Yes, Klint Tucker and crew built awesome tracks for all 4 sessions.

Re: Freeport, IL Pull Track July 19, 2009 03:54AM
Not to take anything away from Klint, but Jeff and his guys do the track prep decision making. Klint supplied the rototiller and some help. This track has been one of the best in the midwest for years. Snuff Pro's and Supers, along with taking out clutches on mods and other tractors. It bites hard, and you need front end weight. Some mod guys whine a lot because they have never pulled on a track with that much bite, can't get the motors up on rpm's. The Swearingen crew were a little nervous because they can't carry much weight, and had it all on the front, but laid down a great pass. If you as a puller like a power track and not a dust bowl, Freeport is the place to be. If you hook into it, you will go for a ride. Ask Shannon Leischner. He was flying when it took hold and stood it up. He did a great driving job to keep it under control, too bad it broke the motor mount and bent the frame.

I'll second the previous comments about Don Slama. I've dealt with him at a couple pulls, what a super guy.
