fuel pump problem

p-pump fuel pump rpm goes up by itself. still can shut down the engine when pull the shut off. any ideas?

Has this always acted this way?? Did u buy chance turn the fuel up and then it started doing this?? If you turn the fuel screw in too far it will want to "run away" but u can still shut it off. |

didn't touch anything, runs good idle then I try to push the throttle and it goes up by itself |

Is this a new pump? Or have you been running it awhile? It's possible you have something hanging the control rack up. How much fuel pressure are you running? Too much fuel pressure creates too much side load on the plungers causing them to hang up thus possibly causing your issue because the governor isnt strong enuf to keep the rpms where they should be. |

cds did the pump and It just came back from the shop, did six hooks since. Last pull I did the bolt that holds the gear of the pump broke |

Did you buy it brand new and when did you get it? Definitely sounds like a barrel or plunger is sticking |

Better get a 3 way dump valve. |
