JD 70 2 cylinder compression question September 30, 2018 04:06AM
I need to rework a JD 70 gas engine. The stock compression ratio is 6.15 to 1. The 2 bangers were low compression due to inconsistent and low octanes of fuels in their day. But that’s not the case now. Can I go to lp pistons with a compression ratio of 7.3 without needing premium gas?
Thanks in advance.

I made pistons for my dad's 60 with a power block at 7.5:1. It will spark knock on 91 octane, but runs fine on 93 octane.
