8500 Limited Pro IH gear ratios November 04, 2018 11:15AM
What is too tall of ratio for this class in the midwest? Thinking about going to 18-1 for the tallest or is that too tall. Thinking a 22-1 or 21-1 as my lowest. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Would be a 4 speed with a 706 rear.

Anybody with experience? I can't believe no one hasn't been there before or has no suggestions.

ask your engine builder or refer to your dyno sheets if you already have them. That will determine how you gear your tractor

18 to 21 is spot on. Usually you will run a 19 maybe a 20 on a hard track.
