No problem, I wasn’t sure what questions you had.
We don’t deal much with Firestone’s, but I believe they weigh around 430, give or take, before cutting. The US built Pro Puller weighs about 395, India built weighs around 430, and the Chinese built weighs about 365. The break in time is all dependent on how you do it. Some like to drop the air pressure to 0 psi and drag the tractor around until it hits wheelie bars, others run them with a low air pressure at first and increase it incrementally as they break in. Do you have any other questions? Aaron Docter Pro Puller Tires |

The Chinese tire is based off of the India built design, but features a lighter sidewall to allow a little more flex for the lower horsepower classes, or classes that are more weight conscious. The U.S. tire is an all new design that is built to be used in all classes, we have had success with it from hot farm all the way up to pro stocks.

That’s a good question. Legally, the country of origin has to be stamped on both sides of the tire, so you can tell at a quick glance where they were made at.

Aaron how do your 20.8 compare to a set of cut firestone deeptreads? Height, tread width, weight, etc |

Thanks for the question. Our 20.8 comes with 2 different sizing for the casings 218" for leagues with the 220" rule, and a 222" for leagues without a rule. It has the full width tread of 20" on the face of every bar. They are weighing around 355 lbs per tire. As I mentioned before, we don't deal in any Firestone tires, but our major advantage is the width of footprint that can give you up to a 15% footprint advantage over our competition.

Thanks for the info Mark. To clarify, the smaller circumference Pro Pullers are at 355, and the larger tires are at the 390 lbs because there is more rubber in the face of the tire. |

Mark or Aaron, While I am not sure of the pulling tire pressure of the 20.8 tires, why do the sanctioning bodies measure the height of the tire at 10 pounds? Even the mini's are measured at this pressure. No one runs them at that pressure, the classes I am referring to are TWD, 4 Wheel Drive, both gas and diesel, Mods, Superfarm, LLPro, Limited Pro, Pro Stock, Super Stock, Limited Super Stock, Unlimited Super Stock. I bet the average tire pressure amount these classes are as low as 3 pounds to the highest at 7 pounds, yet the testing is 10 pounds? |

That was NTPAs rule years ago and everyone followed. Its just like the 220" at 20 PSI rule for 20.8s.NTPA put that in the rule book since they were bias ply only tire rule. All bias ply tires measured below that but.....when NTPA changed to radials(last org. to change in the states) they didn't change the circumference rule. Most Radial tires are bigger than bias.So with organizations that have the 220 rule you can't even run a set of BFG power saver or good old ag bar cut Radial all tractions because they are all over 220.
On the 24.5 rule at 10 pounds...back years ago we had bias tires. They would run them in that area. Then came the 10 ply puller.A pro stock would run them about 9-10 pounds so I can see why that rule exists. But now everyone is much lower. You are correct with the 3-7 pounds now.Problem is the ones making the rules don't know the differences in all tires.I'm not blaming NTPA but if they did their homework when they changed to radials the rule might be different.I do know the other few organizations did follow what they did. |

Well, I will take a stab at the 10 pound rule....if you make the pressure high enough that no one really runs, then you have a good limit. If you made the pressure where most run the tire, then comes a guy who decides to blow up the tire after measuring and the circumference is a bigger tire. Bigger tire equals a few more inches with each rotation, hence a longer distance at a set number of tire revolutions. Does that make any sense?? Not sure I explained the theory very clear. JW |

You explained it well. I agree this could be possible, but the way the tires work at different air pressures is very touchy. Pumping a tire way up would not allow for much flex, giving less traction. Even a quarter pound of air can make all the difference!
