Alcohol fuel system March 18, 2019 01:29PM
Trying to find out how to convert a 301 allis engine to alcohol to run llss class. Rules here are 3x4 smooth bore turbo and 370 cubic inch max. What is needed for parts and machine work and where is best place to start gathering fuel system. Motor was a 2 turbo diesel pulling set up previously Not going crazy on build. Looking to get my feet wet. Thank you in advance. Will be a 180 allis chassis with 30.5 rear tires and aluminum frame rails. Thank you for any help

If your not going crazy on the build with a budjet in mind the first best 6oo to 1000 bucks you can spend will be for a 5.9 cummins the cost of getting those 69 cubic inches from the 301 will be well worth the trouble

Call the best Terry Blackbourn.. Does great work at a reasonable cost. Its Blackbourn Racing

Re: Alcohol fuel system March 19, 2019 04:41AM
Conner's is far better than any of them.

Who are the top Alky LLSS and who's system are they running?

Re: Alcohol fuel system March 20, 2019 08:41AM
In the llss that would be a good question because a lot of the pullers in this class helps each other out .With a single Turbo and 370 cubes its not rocket science anymore on any of the engines with 12 port heads the Allis with its 4 port intake could be a different animal .Someone like Robert Aves;RON Mitchel or Rodney Bowen would be a good one to talk to any three of those could get you set up Just as good as anybody because thats what theve ran for years

Re: Alcohol fuel system March 23, 2019 04:40AM
You can give me a call 270 566 2901 .I just done a 301 fuel system that i didnt want to mention until i made sure it would work last night first time it hooked worked great

Re: Alcohol fuel system March 25, 2019 01:36PM
Lewis did u do the distributor to?

Re: Alcohol fuel system March 25, 2019 01:50PM
No Brad done the distributor and done a great job the first one he ever made impressive

Re: Alcohol fuel system March 25, 2019 01:55PM
Yea n that fuel system looked really neat good job.

Re: Alcohol fuel system March 25, 2019 02:25PM
What is the best and most reliable ignition system for a turbo charged 6 cylinder alcohol engine running 100pounds of boost? Thanks in advance.

Re: Ignition system March 25, 2019 03:04PM
MSD 8 Plus is used by quite a few. Electromotive Systems is being used by some LLSS, but not sure about the 100 PSI of boost you are planning on running. Heard that some LSS are running Mags.

Re: Ignition system March 25, 2019 10:26PM
How much boost will the Electromotive ignition system take? 50-60 psi or dill it handle anything the msd 8 will do? Looking at prices They are a lot more cost effective. Thanks

Big cap ford March 30, 2019 01:23AM
Use the big cap ford. Modifying the MSD 6 is inefficient. I would also encourage you to go dual coil with the msd8

Re: Alcohol fuel system March 26, 2019 01:04AM
My Opinion ... Just go get an MSD 8 plus.

Re: Alcohol fuel system March 26, 2019 04:40AM
A electromotive is a good ing also lot and a lot cheaper just get everything grounded good

Re: Alcohol fuel system March 26, 2019 12:43PM
Are there any ligh or heavy weight super stocks running the electromotive? Or mainly just Light limited super classes with lower boost numbers?

Re: Alcohol fuel system March 26, 2019 01:06PM
I'll second the msd 8 plus route. It's proven, and if it'll light a open super with 120lbs of boost chances are you wont have issues. Some are going the mag route, but there's not a lot of advantage, just more parts to fail.

Re: Alcohol fuel system March 26, 2019 01:41PM
i have bought a couple used electromotive units from SS pullers who went two a mag that always kept a spare but wouldnt sell the extra one kept one for a spare in case the mag went bad both are good price difference will be 1500 to 2000 difference between the two

Re: Alcohol fuel system March 26, 2019 11:16PM
I have a complete Electromotive system for sale if anyone was seriously looking for one. Ran for a season, no issues with it. Going Diesel.

Re: Alcohol fuel system March 28, 2019 11:17PM
What is the best distributor to run with a inline 6 cylinder MSD 8 ignition? looking for one that has the magnetic trigger built into it so I do not need a separate crank mounted trigger. Or is one setup better then the other. Thanks

Re: Alcohol fuel system March 29, 2019 08:21AM
Some are using MSD V-6 Distributors and modifying the drive.

Re: Alcohol fuel system March 29, 2019 01:45PM
Big cap ford spot weld the advance you dont need it

Re: Alcohol fuel system March 29, 2019 03:26PM
Does the big cap ford have a magnetic pick up in it to control msd ignition? Or is it just a cap and rotor?
