DT466 in a 766
|
Will a DT466 fit in the 766? I think it’s a couple inches shorter than a 966. Thanks |

The 360 is shorter than the 466. Tractordata lists the wheelbase as 202.7 on a 766, 205 on the rest of the series. I would guess a set of frame rails, as well as sheet metal, would get you going. |

Frame rails are the same engine will bolt right in. The only modification is that the guard around the fan shroud will be too long when you put a 400 series engine in. Hoods are the same length from the 766-1466. However you will have to cut a new hole for the exhaust. |

I’m not sure that they are all the same length. I agree with Kurtvtx. New rails and metal should work fine. |

I have taken a gas 766 (291 motor) out before and put a 414 Non turbo motor in with only changing
The fan and shroud and frame rails (same length as the other 66 tractors different holes)hole in the hood was the same and the sheet metal was the same. Never took a 360 out before but I can tell you we farm with one and the shroud is different don’t know about the holes in those rails |

Op, yes.....easier than going from gas to diesel.
ihfan634 is right......your just missing the holes in the frame or they are about 3”-4” in front of the d360(they will be offset) can’t remember if they are offset down or up to bolt the 400series in, the rest of the holes are the same for the bolster, fan shroud, guessing your going to turbo but your either going to have to modify your fuel tank or get a factory turboed tractors fuel tank or make something to relocate the turbo......I personally did both the first option and the last. If you farm with it get a different radiator as the factory 766 one is a smaller compacity. |

You may also want to go with a bigger input shaft. |

Sorry, the input shaft on the 766 is the same as the one in a 966-1066-1466 The 1566-1586 has the larger input shaft. Just remember that if you install a 1566-86 TA you need to change the constant mesh gears to maintain the split between TA and direct. (dont ask how I know this) Edited 1 time(s). I went from a 360 to a 414 easy swap holes are already in frame rails . You have to shorten the shroud for the fan . |
