Keeping Alcohol

help please

What is everyone doing to keep alcohol in a fuel system from "Jelling" up inside of a pump? It is stated in the rules we have to use M1 methanol, so naturally, no additives or anything else. what causes the Alcohol to do this? then the next step is it crystalizes, how do you prevent that? Thanks for your help! |

Never had alcohol gel up nor crystallize even when forgetting to completely drain the system over the winter. Aluminum parts used should be anodized for best results. As insurance add an alcohol specific lube, like half an ounce per gallon. There are many on the market, Klotz, Amsoil, Lucas, Maxxim, etc. Just my 35 year experience. JW |

I’ve been told

Remove your pump and fill with atf. Same with p valves. Blow everything else out before storage and again when you get it out. If you’re getting crud between weekends then you have something in the system that is corroding. Find it and replace |

Never leave alcohol in pump over 30 days at most. MACK |

Will alcohol specific lubricants effect a fuel test. IE mixing the fuel with water to check cloudiness? |
