IH tachometer April 11, 2019 01:46PM
Does anyone know what the tachometer drive ratio is on a IH 400 series engine. I have a factory drive on my 1066 and want to add a electric tachometer that uses a pickup sensor mounted on the tach drive to operate the gauge. But in order to calibrate it I need to know the drive ratio. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Simple, Put a mark on the tach drive and turn the crankshaft and count the revolutions till the tach drive completes one revolution. That will give you the ratio.

I knew that would work but on a fully assembled engine that’s easier said than done by myself lol.
