At what point does reliability drop off?

With the discussion about track lengths and pulloffs recently, and how the upper level tractors don't want to have to come back for a pulloff due to the additional wear and tear on their equipment. I was wondering at what level tractor does the reliability decrease to the point an owner is concerned with making an extra pass now and then? As a lowly antique puller we constantly "hot lap" our stuff. I know the lack of a full cooling system makes a huge difference, but provided you can get things cooled off, is there a class above 1000 hp that can run pass after pass and not be concerned with major parts failure? LLSS? Superfarm? If not, what would the practical limit be? 600 hp? 800 hp? |
