Dt466 and dt414 camshafts October 30, 2019 02:04PM
Is there any difference in a factory dt466 camshaft and a factory dt414 camshaft? I put a dt466 crank rods n Pistons in a dt 414 and used a dt414 cam and engine doesn't seem to run like it should was wondering if it is camshaft

The cam is not likely your trouble. However I'm sure there are some differences between them due to one being designed for a medium duty road truck and the other for a tractor agriculture application. Not sure what you mean by " the engine doesn't seem to run like it should"? What are you expecting and what are you comparing it to?

It does not have nowhere near the power all of my other tractors have just like it with 466’s

Stock farm tractors? Pulling tractors? Pumps, injectors, turbos? Injection timing, cam timing?

I’d bet you don’t have the engine in time.

What head is on the engine?

Natural asperiated. It is in time injection pump set at 17 deg. I put compression gauge on it and cranked it over and it was lil over 500psi. I started motor and it ran 380 psi and when I rev up motor 1500 rpm it drops to 300 let back off to idle n goes back to 380psi as I pull kill to shut off it jumps to bout 420 as engine slows down to die. My opinion is valve springs are really weak any one have any tips or suggestions before I spend money that doesn't have to b spent. 18:1 compression ratio

Your cam plays a big part of your cranking compression never heard of checking it while running

To check engine compression on an A-C, that's how they want you to do it. One cylinder at a time with the engine idling. Their spec is usually 500 to 600 psi with a max difference of 50 psi. The same engine done with all injectors removed done with the starter and a battery charger will come out to 400 psi as a rule.

Everyone tells me they are the same but when I look it up to order a new one there is a part number for 414-436 and a separate part number for 466. It has an H head on it. How much seat pressure is suppose to be on the valves when closed? Someone told me 90lbs and I held a 90lb tractor weight on top of valve stem n it pushed it down 3/16"-1/4"

Will a 414 crank fit in a Dt466 Block?

Yes

Is there any differences? Bearing widths? Oil pump drive?
