International 400 Series Serial Number Location.

Question for my son. He has a 1256 International that has had the engine changed. He was told when he swapped for it that it has a DT466 in it now. I know it's a 400 Series, but I'm not sure where the engine serial number plate is to check. Yes, I do know where the tractor serial number is located, but obviously that's no help. Thanks in advance. |

I should have clarified in the subject line; 400 series "engine" serial number. |

Middle of block under intake manifold should be 466, 467, or 468. You do not want an āeā series. |

Thanks Bmaxwell. I thought there would be a data plate on the engine block somewhere, and that's what I kept looking for. |

Just because the blocks says it's a 466, doesn't really mean it is actually a 466. Any of the 3 blocks can be made into any of the 3 sizes in the series, 414, 436,466. Only sure way to know is pull the head and measure the stroke. |

News to me
|
Any of the 400 series engines that I have ever seen were accurately stamped 414, 436, 466 and so on. The only way I see them being different than marked would be if someone changed the internal parts after it left the factory. |

That is actually what I mean to say. Lots of hands could have been on these engines by now, piecing them together happens. |
