D282 question

Can I make a D282 into a D301 by just pulling the sleeves and installing D301 pistons? I can't find any information on what a D282 bore is sleeveless. This is a farm tractor, and all the bore is standard. Thanks. |

Of course

You can, but depending on whether you have a narrow flange or wide flange sleeve. If you have a wide flange sleeves you’ll have to make spacer rings to take up the space so the head gasket can seal.
Your next challenge is going to be getting good usable 301 pistons and rings. The fellow down the road has been collecting them for a while now and most are not fit for service. Would it run, sure, but the ring lands won’t seal well and you leave a bunch of power on the table. |

Been there

If this is a farm tractor, I would not recommend running 301 pistons and no sleeves. I will run hot if you work it. A good 282 will make good power if you do a little head work and cam. Good luck |
