I've heard a Quad Range is good to 1000hp. I'm at about 450-500 and shift with absolutely no problem.

My tractor is about 7800-8000lb bare. Anything more than 7-800hp I think you’ll start having problems with factory transmission. I had a billet six speed built by atlas but just converted it to a 3 speed (still atlas) has worked very well for me. Had a lot of lower gears that I never pulled anymore is the reason for switching.

JnDrGrn are you running a syncro transmission case? I have never heard of a billet 6 speed. I am running a 4010 and need to do something different with the stock transmission.

Yes it’s a synchro housing. Was running the factory shift till last year when I made a floor shifter for it

Atlas 3 speed Humpco billet differential outboard brakes and a atlas 3 disc in a 4010 clutch housing. I drive the stock transmission oil pump whenever the pinion turns. That oil dumps over the transmission gears and lines the bearings.

refer back to the Bill Williams/Doug Drussel threads at one time Drussel had built a JD 4430 3 charger 466 cui with 10 ply Firestones that weighed 6500 lbs with the driver on it. Tractor ran state, national, and GN pulls.
