If you put in a W6 ring and pinion you would pick up some. I don’t remember the percentage though.

Dream on. It is 6% increase with a w6 R&P. Stock is 19 pinion/50 ring, W6 is 19 pinion/48 ring.

I got a W6 R&P from Bates Corporation.

Maybe a tighter converter? I used to run an auto in my pickup, 4600 stall, and it gave up a lot of wheel speed due to converter slippage. It was geared pretty close to the same as the manual, but if it had good bite, it lost wheel speed instead of pulling the engine down.

Do what I did.
Throw the automatic away!
Get a nice clutch can, two disc clutch, pedal or centrifugal, your choice.
Single countershaft pro fab, or SCS.
Adjustable as heck, and more power to the ground.
