Aluminum frame.
|
Can you use aluminum frame rails on a tractor?
Was just curious and didn’t know how much weight difference It would make. |

I've been running a channel aluminum frame and front axle for 13 years now........ |

4" x 1/4" as the basic start. The section the engine is bolted to has a full section of 1/2" flat bar welded on the inside for extra strength (mostly for engine mount bolts). From there forward has 1/4" flat welded on to make it a box. The axle is channel with the flat bar back for a full box as well, and it pivots. Bounced it probably as hard as you'd like and it has never had so much as the beginnings of a crack anywhere as yet.
Just make sure everything is solid welded. If aluminum is allowed to flex much it will crack the welds. |
