I am on the West coast. Not really a class for it, SO I am planning on twin turbos. the tractor has a FE ford in it now. Just want to build something funner. |

P-pump it. I have a 12v new build ready to go that would be easier. |

valvesprings and camshaft from hamilton, firering and headstud it, wouldnt be a bad idea to put a girdle and studs on the bottom end but not necessary. I would p pump it as stated earlier. Forged factory rods are plenty strong for that horsepower level. Ported head helps but isnt needed for that level. Single turbo will easily get you there. Box borg s475. Id probably fill the block myself so you dont have to deal with coolant if you are just using it for pulling. Id contact seth farrell for your pump stuff and weston shupe for injectors. Both will treat you right. |

Thanks for the information, I was considering filling the block, Should the head be filled also? I assume that doubling engine oil pan capacity will be essential. At what point does the engine oil pump need to be updated? |

The stock oil pump is good with very little machine work a 8.3 pump will work |

For more options I would go with a 12 valve there not many tractor classes that allow 24 valve you would be stuck with your group |

12v rods are the strongest out of the factory. I'm going to reallu get flak for this, but the worked over 24v will not flow as much as a worked over 12v. A 24v with p pump is definitely going to net you 1000 go though. If wanting to stick with 24v I'd go the extra step and cut the intake off and stick a fabbed one on. Compounds will really help. 64/71/14 and a larger s475 will get you there for air. Touch the exhaust side of the head for ports. Obviously want to port match the Mani. Griddle be good issurance and hardened rods, but like stated, not a necessity. At least go 13mm pump. Diesel Auto power has good injectors for the money. This thing sounds fun, I've had a good running 24v pickup. A stock vp is only good for 600hp. Going to need big cam, and heavy springs, 110lb or bigger. Spinning it over 3500-3700 isnt much different to 4000rpm. These things fall off power above 3700. They make a big arse vp, but it's spendy as hexk and very touchy for injectors. |

Also going to need to do some piston work if you want longevity. Fly cut for cam, and decompress bowls. The stock compression work, but good luck hold gaskets
Going to need fire ring and go with the 625 arp studs, or h11 brand... Don't know if they still in business. The stock bottom ends will hold up to 1200hp, but over 8-900 it's kind of a guessing game. I know a guy who used to run 13mm pump, big arse charger and literally run the nitro into the intake without a jet, just a hose made around 1400hp. All stock, only pumps, turbo, and injectors, and studs. |

If you're looking for some good used parts I have:
5.9 Crank with gear 14mm head studs Billet rods Push rods Intercooler All in excellent shape with only one season on them and they will work for both a 12v and 24v. Willing to make a package deal. Jeff 612-481-8743 tapmotorsportsmn@gmail.com |

I will go a little farther i have ported and polished a lot of cummins heads if you go with a 12 valve which will also save you money because of 12 less valves and springs dont go with a used head 70 percent on the road has cracks in them buy a new china head from ebay they are cheap new and have smaller water jacket they are thicker and make a better head |

Never have understood why 24v is not allowed in more classes? It is a stock engine. |

A lot of brands dont have the 24 valve option and it adds to the cost 12 extra titanium valves and springs aint cheap |

So far it looks as though a aftermarket block and head is a smart move. I did not know that the 6.7 is a Siamese bore block, that makes the choice easy. |

Bare bones

Bare bones, what is needed for a 3000 rpm, water injected, water intercooled 5.9 to run good and live? Would you guys suggest 12V or 24V at that rpm? |

Need more info like what can everyone else run in class? But the 5.9 likes RPM'S so at 3000 it will be limited. If the cubic inch in the class is about the same as the 5.9 it will hold its own at 3000. |

360 cubic inch class, most I've seen are 5.9's a few DT360's. Any turbo. |
