Did Leischners run their PPL setup with 8-71s at Rockwell? Were they running larger blowers? PPL setups have won unlimited hooks before, but it's unusual to sweep a weekend. |

Yes they did. Most other pullers were over powering the track. The Leischner's did a great job being able to get the power to the ground a put down two awesome passes! Brent Yaron Hooked Up Pulling Productions hookeduppullingproductions@gmail.com |

Sometimes it might be a big help to have less power then the rest.
Sometimes you have to "downtune" your engines or even decide to don't start all the engines you have mounted on the frame. This applies for every class. Sometimes less is more.... |

Ive not heard of mods running with one engine shut off on purpose unless it was 3 engine class and they had 4 mounted etc. |

In May of 2012 at Lincolnton NC, PPL mod hook, Scott Tedder actually left the staging lanes to return to his hauler. Removed an engine completely, re-scaled to run 3 engines on board so he could put extra moveable weight on the back of the tractor. Pretty sure Reese Shelton only ran 3 on Friday night at Ellsworth last fall. |

Ok, 1 time for sure out of a gazillion mod hooks and maybe 1 other time makes it a rather obscure practice. Would you agree ? |

It does happen on occasion but not very often. I know Bob Jostock did it at Georgetown one year on a bad track. He said he had his 5 motor gear with four engines then shut one of those off. I think Bill Vories said once that he shut an engine off after leaving the line after realizing the tractor was over powering the track.
