Currently have a 986 sitting in the shed collecting dust and was wondering if it would be a good candidate to be a hot farm puller? |

986 will make a good pulling tractor. First thing first you gotta put a turbo on it! I would suggest a S300. Then you're going to need a decent fuel source. The stock rotary injection pump is capable of producing enough fuel for farm paced classes but to run in non speed limit classes you are going to need the rotary pump rebuilt with around 13mm plungers Fair Valley Performance from WI builds a good pulling rotary injection pump. But if your rules allow I would consider getting an inline pump either an A pump or P pump. Fair Valley Performance can hook you up with an inline pump as well and also injectors and lines to go with it. As you gain more hp you'll see more stock parts starting to fail like the clutch and T/A but thats part of the game, just gotta replace the broken parts with better parts and then eventually you'll have yourself a good running pulling tractor! Good luck to ya! |
