|
New hot farm puller
|
I am building a 540 3x3 hot farm.. looking for options on a head for valve size and cfm? Will to much cfm hurt the torque? |

First of all let me say that I am not an expert but this is what I know from my experience. CFMS will not hurt the torque of the motor. Anyway you should be able to turn the motor hard being that it will be a 540 so you shouldn’t have a problem. I’m not sure on valve size but I have a head that came off a 504 super stock and I can measure the size. Also can you run a recast head? And finally how did you get to 540 (the common 4 5/8 bore and 466 crank or 4 7/8 with 414 crank? I have a big valve head that needs some work and is cracked between the valves but may be able to be repaired. |

Just went and looked at my head and its got 2.25-1.90 valve size. It is supposed to flow anywhere from 320-330 but it is a recast. That should help give you an idea on CFMs and valve size. |

Do you run a 3x3 on this head puller?
To the op, are you open rpm or limited? Cooler or no cooler? |

In my opinion with a small charger as in a 3x3, I recommend a light port and polish job on a good ol plus head. If you get too big you loose port velocity which will hurt your bottom end. Bigger valves won't hurt you as much as too large of ports. |

What are are you in? 510 is the limit for most hot farm classes in the Midwest anyway |
