Best pulling rivalries?

Looking back, in the mid '70s for a few years it seemed like Danny Dean and Dave Stangle were both winning and evenly matched, while Arfons and the Judge were at the top of the heavy mod classes.
In the late 80s into the 90s, Banter and Engler, later Gardner were winning back and forth, while the alcohol vs diesel rivalry really heated up in 1990 when Conner and Palmers were strong. On the truck side, who could forget the on track competition of Holdorf and Brockman in twd, or maybe Lorenz and Wilkins winning along with Voreis in PS. These are but a few times in this sport when a few guys in the same class were at the top,of their game at the same time. What do you think were (or still are) some of the best on-track rivalries in pulling? |

Recalling many of the minis having fly swatters on the minis when the Mellos were running. I think the whole class of minis were rivals. I recall Holdorf and Leo Kay being rivals in the TWD. Rumors of who could burn the most $100 bills with a match. |
