I am considering building a SS for OSTPA, The rules allow for 2" on the hitch and 500 lb if tractor has a OEM head.
I have a OEM chassis that is a past pro/super which I would like to use. Question What would the best AG engine to use? |

You need to take a whole day and drive over to visit with ol' M-M guru legend, Ron Perry, near Flora / Bringhurst, Indiana. Literally any of the strong running M-M's of the '70's & 80's all had his touch in them. The most famous was the one he owned, "Solid Junk" but made famous by Dave Stangle.
Ron's pulling transmissions and rear end gears have been bullet proof over the decades. Right along with his modified engine heads. Ron is elderly. I believe, he is still doing some machine shop work out in his shop. |

Since you have a ag chassis you would be limited to a mm engine or it's replacement which is probably a 8.3 Cummins. Cummins would be better in anything that's making real power since the moline isn't a 7 main block. Cost wise its hard to beat a ih 466 since there are tons of them out there and there are hyper/gms heads up on the for sale page all the time at reasonable prices. |

Being it would be a SS I should be able tu use any AG motor. My preference is a 466 |

The Any Ag motor rule only applies to component tractors. With a cast chassis you are limited on what will bolt to the housing and what is considered a factory replacement. Jake Morgan Owner, PULLOFF.COM Independent Pulling News This page is a free service. The cost is covered out of my pocket. It takes a great deal of time and a fair amount of money to keep this website going. Donations for: photos, classified ads, forum discussion, etc... are appreciated. Side Note: We are no longer accepting PayPal donations. They have changed their terms of service and stated they would fine PayPal users for spreading "misinformation" and "hate, violence, racial or other forms of intolerance that is discriminatory". PayPal did not provide definitions for some of these vague terms. Woke corporate policies regarding "misinformation" could result in an automatic fine of $2,500 which would have been removed directly from the customer’s PayPal account. PayPal did backdown from some of their policies but quietly implemented portions of them in later terms of service. A financial institute has no right to monitor social media accounts or speech. This is unacceptable and I'll no longer do business with PayPal. |

I'd do some calling and see what your choices are,a 7 main block is a must anymore.so a 585 or 8.3 are more than likely the choices.the 8.3 with a 8.9 crank would be the easiest to acquire cores for by far |

The OEM chassis is ready to go. It was previously a SS and Pro Stock |
