Allisons

In honor of Memorial Day weekend and the memory of all those who served in WWII, let's talk about allisons.
It doesn't seem likely that a 70 year old engine could compete, but Bollingers are still competitive. There are RN/State level tractors that are strong like Boxlers and Daku in the east coast/NY area. In Europe, the Claas Team has 3 strong running allison tractors. There are several single allisons that run well in circuits where they are limited to a single motor. I think most pulling fans love the sound of a well-tuned allison. My question: Is there anything that hasn't already been done with an allison that could help them keep up with the v8s? |

The Bollinger's and Diekman (when he last ran) are quite capable of being competitive in the RN Mod class so the ability to make, the Allison's run with the V8 tractors is there at least at the RN level. One year several years ago our tractors were only beaten 3 times in RN competition and it was the Rat Poison tractor that did it. When we ran the Lt. Unlimited class on a good track Rat poison was the tractor to beat. At least when 14-71 blowers were being used that was the case.
